The sound

MIRA新伝統 is a Tokyo-founded, Athens-based duo working across electronic music, choreography and performance. Honami Higuchi and Raphael Leray use the voice, the body and speculative mythology to explore relationships between people, technology and their surroundings. Their 2022 EP Noumenal Eggs turns those concerns into fractured rhythms, dissonance and shifting synthetic textures. Written and produced by both members, the release includes Chronosis, Howling Machines and Disembodiment, with Ziúr contributing a remix of the latter. James Ginzburg mixed and mastered the EP for Subtext. FM and wavetable synthesis shape its changing sense of space, while vocal contrasts form part of the duo’s sound. The earlier Torque combined a short film with a soundtrack adapted from a longer performance. Subsequent releases include Symchthonia and Stalemate Altered, followed by the 2026 album Mythoplaxy on Infinite Machine. These recordings sit alongside a performance practice built around sound, movement and imagined futures.
