About

The sound

Mousse T. is German-Turkish DJ and producer Mustafa Gündoğdu, whose records connect house with funk, soul and vocal songwriting. “Horny” and his work on Tom Jones’s “Sexbomb” brought his productions to a broad audience, while Peppermint Jam, the label he ran with Errol Rennalls, provided another outlet for his music. On Gourmet De Funk, he moved beyond repeating those singles’ club arrangements. Vintage keyboards, samples and live musicians supported songs that drew on soul, reggae, jazz and swing, including new versions of “Horny” and “Sexbomb.” Collaborators on the album included Emma Lanford, Inaya Day and Rosie Gaines, reflecting the importance of distinctive singers to his production work.
