Palms Trax

About

The sound

Palms Trax is the DJ and producer Jay Donaldson, whose music joins house, disco and the discoveries of a record collector. His formative listening expanded while working in a London record shop, where Chicago house and Detroit techno became lasting influences. After moving to Berlin, his early experiments led to a debut record on Lobster Theremin in October 2013. His relationship with Dekmantel developed through In Gold in 2015 and High Point on Low Ground in 2016. Those records pair piano and acid lines with firm percussion, a combination that connects his production to the breadth of his DJ sets. Equation, which includes Late Jam and Houses in Motion, is another defining part of that early catalogue. Cooking with Palms Trax began broadcasting on Berlin Community Radio in 2015 and grew into a wider setting for extended sets and musical exchange. Performances alongside selectors such as Hunee, Young Marco and Antal reflect that interest in moving between familiar dancefloor records and less predictable discoveries.
