PAUZA

About

The sound

PAUZA is the Cuban house duo of Paula Fernández and Zahira Sánchez. They met at a workshop for women DJs in Cuba in 2012 and joined their names to form the project. Their productions connect house music with Afro-Cuban percussion, Latin rhythms and Cuban folklore. Get Physical Music released Bésame Mucho in 2020, followed by the pair's curated Cuba, Get Physical! series in 2022, which presented other Cuban electronic artists. Caliente, made with singer Arema Arega, opened that series. Their 2025 release Yo Soy Cubano reworked a Cuban classic through a percussion-heavy Afro-Latin house arrangement. Across their recordings and DJ work, the duo places the musical roots of Havana at the centre of its club sound.
