About
The sound
Saber Rider is an Athens-based producer, composer, performer and DJ working with sampling, analogue synthesis and improvisation. The practice extends into film, dance and mixed media, alongside sound design, music supervision, post-production and music education.
Solo releases include Human Demo, Heaps and Sprightly. The latter collects music developed in late 2019 and 2020 through improvisation and exploration of new equipment. The Just Gazing edition of Heaps brings together eleven tracks, including Heads, Tails, Transmission, 4AM and Oshiro.
Music for Cats is a collaboration with Anna Vs June, made through live jams between July and October 2022 and edited into songs. Released by Submersion Records that December, it uses instruments including a Moog Mother, OB-6, Yamaha VSS30, Octatrack and MicroKorg. Saber Rider shared the writing and arranging and handled mixing and mastering.
Radio selection and DJ performance form another part of the work. Saber Rider hosts Out of Tune for the station now known as Stegi Radio and has also contributed to Fade Radio. These programmes sit alongside the recorded catalogue and collaborations with other musicians and artists.
