About

The sound

Sally C is a Belfast-born DJ and producer whose selections connect vintage house and hip house with acid and breakbeat. She began DJing in 2010 at the Reading Rooms in Dundee, where the club's open-minded community shaped her approach to finding records and mixing. After moving to Berlin in 2015, she organised parties at Griessmühle and open-air events, developing her place in the city's club culture. Her 2019 Boiler Room appearance at AVA Festival brought that approach to a wider audience. In 2020 she launched Big Saldo's Chunkers, drawing inspiration from American house and hip house between the late 1980s and 1990s, including the work of Fast Eddie, Tyree and K-Hand. The label catalogue includes her numbered Big Saldo's Chunker EPs and DR Pleasure with Eliza Rose. It also provides a home for music by other producers, including Cromby's House Flava and Papa Nugs' Move It Or Lose It EP.
