About
The sound
SOFI TUKKER is the duo of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern. They began making music together after meeting at an art-gallery performance at Brown University in 2014, bringing different musical backgrounds into a shared electronic project. Brazilian music and Portuguese vocals are recurring elements in their recordings, including Drinkee, Swing and Kakee. Their album Wet Tennis followed in 2022. During the 2020 lockdown, daily DJ livestreams helped develop the fan community known as the Freak Fam. Their collaborations include Mon Cheri with Amadou & Mariam, Sun Came Up with John Summit, Manhattan with Carlita and Cook with J Balvin. Those recordings connect their dance production with a range of vocalists and fellow producers.
