About

The sound

SONA is a South African DJ and producer working across house music, recorded sets and songwriting. The son of Black Coffee, he has developed a performance career alongside his studio work. He co-produced and co-wrote Texts Go Green for Drake’s album Honestly, Nevermind, while his own artist catalogue includes Bind with Da Africa Deep. His performance history includes a back-to-back set with Black Coffee at the Boombox Room in Las Vegas and appearances at La Mesa in Los Angeles and GOSPEL in New York. A recorded three-way set with Tristan Urwin and Son Of Dennis at Johannesburg’s Truth Nightclub documents another part of his practice, moving through house and Afro house selections. These different formats place his production credits alongside the longer musical conversations of a shared DJ set, giving listeners both individual recordings and collaborative performances to explore.
