About
The sound
Steve Aoki is a DJ, producer and the founder of Dim Mak, the label he started in 1996. Its catalogue developed across independent rock and electronic music, releasing artists including Bloc Party, The Bloody Beetroots, The Chainsmokers and Zedd. That interest in crossing musical boundaries also runs through Aoki’s own work, from the Neon Future projects to collaborations with BTS, Linkin Park, Maluma, Ne-Yo and Louis Tomlinson. His collaboration-led catalogue includes Cartagena with Greeicy, Us with ERNEST, Lighter with Paris Hilton and Paranoia with Danna Paola. In 2020 he launched Dim Mak En Fuego, extending his label work into Latin music. His career has also been documented outside the studio through the 2016 film I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead and his 2019 memoir Blue.
