Storm Mollison

About

The sound

Storm Mollison is a DJ and producer whose music connects house, garage and breaks with the R&B and hip-hop she grew up hearing between London and Florida. The Neptunes and Timbaland helped shape her interest in rhythm, while her listening also took in D’Angelo, Janet Jackson and Theo Parrish. She often begins a production with drums, developing the track from the feel of its rhythm rather than a fixed genre formula. Night Flow, released on SG Lewis’s Forever Days label, brought that approach into a track inspired by old-school hip-hop and the atmosphere of a house party. Her collaborative work includes Touch Down (Feel The Rush) with Mella Dee and GRFTP with KI/KI. Across these records, her interest in vocal character, bass and swing gives different club styles a shared rhythmic focus.
