About

The sound

Tall Paul is the DJ and producer Paul Newman, whose career developed around London club culture. He began playing at Turnmills as a teenager and appeared on pirate stations including Touchdown and Sunrise. His early association with Trade in 1990 placed him within a club environment that would remain central to his DJ work. His production career took shape with Love Rush in 1992, followed by Rock Da House with Red Jerry. Under the Camisra name he released Let Me Show You, linking his club profile to a record that became one of his defining productions. He established Duty Free Recordings in 1998, creating another outlet for his own music and other producers. The 2004 album Back & Forth brought together tracks including Common Ground, Be There, Freebase and Precious Heart. His remix work has also crossed into pop and alternative music, with credits for artists including New Order, Erasure, The Human League and The Stone Roses.
