Tchami

About

The sound

Tchami is the French DJ and producer Martin Bresso, whose music connects house rhythms with the melodic style associated with future house. His listening developed through record shopping in Paris, taking in classic house, R&B and hip-hop. Releases such as After Life and Adieu helped establish his recording identity before the 2020 album Year Zero. Year Zero gave him room to experiment with different tempos and song structures, and to work more closely with songwriters. Faith centres on a sample of Marlena Shaw’s Woman of the Ghetto, while the album also includes Praise with Gunna. His production work extends into pop: after contributing to Lady Gaga’s Applause, he returned for Chromatica, co-producing songs including Stupid Love and Rain on Me. Alongside his solo work, Tchami has collaborated with Malaa through No Redemption. Their shared catalogue and performances sit beside his individual releases, with Veni, Vidi, Vici appearing in his album catalogue in 2024.
