About
The sound
The Shapeshifters is the house project led by Simon Marlin. Originally a partnership with Max Reich, it continued with Marlin after Reich left in 2017. Records such as ‘Lola’s Theme’ and ‘Back to Basics’ established a sound that brings disco arrangements and prominent vocals into house production. Working with musicians, vocalists and collaborator Colin Smith, Marlin has continued to develop the project’s emphasis on played instruments and songwriting. ‘Finally Ready’ features Billy Porter, while the albums Sound Advice and Let Loose document different stages of the catalogue. Let Loose arrived through Glitterbox in 2022, continuing the project’s connection between soul, disco and the club.
