About

The sound

Tommy Phillips makes house music shaped by Chicago swing, breakbeat rhythms and vocal hooks. He developed that approach through close attention to drum grooves and bass patterns, with releases including the Smokin’ EP on Roush and ‘Foolish Stuff’ on META. His work for neXup includes ‘You Just Might’ and the Fixation EP, which brought his own voice into the centre of the music. An official remix of deadmau5 and Kaskade’s ‘I Remember’ adds another side to his catalogue, alongside productions built around his combination of percussion, bass and vocals.
