Wheats

About

The sound

Wheats is the UK DJ and producer David Wheatcroft, whose music centres on rolling house and tech-house rhythms. He developed from making tracks at home to holding a residency in his hometown. An early encounter with Kerri Chandler became a turning point: Chandler listened to his demos, played two in the same set and subsequently signed his music. His catalogue includes releases through Kaluki, Saved, Circus, Toolroom and Viva, with support from selectors including Pete Tong and Danny Howard. Wheats also established Box Red, extending his studio work into a sample series. Its first Wheats collection brings together bass, synth and drum loops, reflecting the rhythmic components behind his productions.
