About
The sound
William Kiss is a Melbourne DJ and producer working across house and techno. A background in percussion informs his focus on drums, bass and the force of a stripped-back arrangement. Discovering Len Faki as a teenager helped draw him towards techno, while Stephan Hinz and Philip Ruhmhardt’s Doch became another early reference point. His early releases include Twilight on Renesanz, Altitude with Steve Bleas on Complexed, the Project One EP on Recovery Collective and Black Sky on Upon Access. His catalogue also includes work for Gudu, UNCAGE, Rekids, Club Bad and Carl Cox’s 23rd Century. Beyond techno, his listening has ranged from Mobb Deep and Curtis Mayfield to David August, giving his studio practice a wider musical background.
